About Us

GCHMU is a non-profit regional team serving the following counties: Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton and Warren Counties in Ohio. Dearborn, Franklin, Ohio and Ripley Counties in Indiana. 
We are governed by a Board of Trustees representing the fire service and local government.
Membership is comprised from the fire service, public service organizations and industrial/government technical personnel.

Dispatch

The Unit is dispatched through Hamilton County Communications Center (513) 825-2280.
The Unit must be requested by the Fire/Police Department Incident Commander. 

Operations

G.C.H.M.U. has 3 Part Time Duty Officers who are responsible for safety, recruitment, emergency response, team training, outside training, policy and procedures, overall readiness, equipment procurement and maintenance.

​Additionally, the Unit has 1 Full Time Office Administrator, Brooke Matzen.    

The response team is comprised of Technicians, Specialists and Operations personnel from varying agencies.

​The Unit is a Level 1 typed response team as defined by The State of Ohio Hazmat Technical Advisory guidelines. This is the highest level of typing for a hazmat team in the State of Ohio.
